Fishing tackle boxes

Fishing tackle boxes help to determine the success of the angler because they allow him or her to be properly equipped for the task.  Just as the plumber has to have his tools, the baseball player needs his bat and glove, the ability of the angler lies in the container that holds his fishing tackle.   There are many basic items to include in the beginner fishing tackle box.  As the fisherman becomes more experienced, he might add tools that will help him in his endeavors.

The basics of organizing your fishing tackle is to pick out a tackle box that should be sturdy.  It needs to be able to withstand a lot of abuse.  Usually made of plastic, tackle boxes are solid and have handles making it easier to carry on the many trips to the boat, to the stream, to the river.  The tackle box needs a strong latch because an angler does not want all of his fishing tackle to spill out.  It is important to test the latch when purchasing a tackle box.

Once the box has been bought, the next step is to decide what fishing tackle should be in the box.   Fully stocked tackle boxes should have hooks, lines, and sinkers.  Hooks are essential because an angler can’t catch without them.  The interesting detail is that the larger the number size of the hook, the smaller the hook really is.  When purchasing line, ensure that the line fits the reel.  A spare spool of line should be in the fishing tackle box for emergency purposes.  Sinkers help the bait catch fish below the water’s surface.  If an angler wants to get his line to the bottom, split-shot sinkers are needed.  Sinkers are made from diverse materials.  Some sinkers are made from lead; this can potentially poison some types of fish.  The safest types of sinkers are made from tin, steel or non-toxic metals.

Lures should also be part of the fishing tackle in tackle boxes. Lures comes in an assortment of sizes, colors, shapes and material.  The lure used is determined by the fish.  For example, a bass is attracted to a worm shaped lure.  Meanwhile, a kingfish is drawn to a lure with glitter.  It is important to research what the fish you are trying to catch likes to eat.  This way you can buy the right lures.

Other fishing tackle includes leaders, snap swivels, needle-nose pliers, practice plugs, fingernail clippers, stringers and maps.    A leader is a piece of line that has a metal core; this keeps the fish from biting off the line and going back into the water.  A snap snivel helps to avoid tangles in the line which is a common nuisance for fishermen.    A practice plug in the fishing tackle box is used when casting.  A stringer keeps the fish caught fresh in the water.  Maps guide the fisherman to the fishing holes.  Fishing tackle boxes include several compartments to keep tackle organized.

The proper fishing tackle supplies are central to successful and enjoyable fishing expeditions.  Tackle boxes should include hooks, lines, sinkers, lures, leaders, snap swivels, practice plugs, maps, stringers, needle-nose pliers, and fingernail clippers.
